IT TRENDS
Mobile Credit Card Processing
I believe mobile credit card processing will change the way techs do business because they can collect their payment quickly from their cell phone or iTouch instead of using wired technology.
Techs will be able to make house calls for their services, all they will have to do is turn on the app, plug in the “dongle” AKA card reader and swipe the card. Money can even be paid over the phone for phone support if so desired.
The skills needed to develop in this trend are next to nothing, just keep up my skill in whatever I am trying to make money from, I have even used this technology to sell things at a garage sale. If you offer the best products or services at a reasonable price you cannot go wrong.
These are all links to several mobile credit card processing reviews, all basically saying that it is unthinkable to not utilize this technology for your business.

CITS 284-Joomla! Chapters 4, 5, 6
Chapter 4 deals with configuring Joomla! to work for your needs. You have options to set meta-tags for your sites, have user friendly URLs automatically be created for your site, change your site name, create a message for the page when it is offline for maintenance, set parameters for individual user sessions, set the timezones for the server, and set user permissions for example.
Chapter 5 introduces the concept of content management, (Joomla! is a content management system.) I was walked through the “hierarchy” of the content and made different categories for my site. Under the three categories I made, I put “articles” with the information I am sharing on the site. I then made a menu change to see my first result on the actual page, a link to the categories I made of peoples’ ages.
CITS 284-Joomla! Chapters 1, 2, 3
I re-worked the first three chapters of the Joomla! Bible. These chapters were introducing Joomla!, it’s features, how to install it, and what you see when you first go to the website you are creating from the front-end to the back-end. My project has been off schedule for quite some time, but will be completed before my extension is up.
One of the most difficult things I had to do with my project was during the installation and working with my web-hosting provider to name both websites in my account. It is confusing in the godaddy website, but when you type in the names:

and
http://www.pickupthepieces-alaska.info
no one would know the difference! :-D
CITS 284-Blog Post 2
This semester I will learn the Content Management System Joomla!, so I can design websites for clients. I will learn Joomla! with a book and video tutorials.
I hope to learn all I need to successfully design/create/publish effective, attractive websites and make $$$$! Learning Joomla! is necessary to be successful in the web design field.
My First Blog Post for CITS 284
I recently returned the the IT program after a 4 year break. I have enough credits to graduate this semester, and look forward to it.
I have chosen to raise my two children in Fairbanks, although I’d rather live in a warmer climate, I feel it is safer here.
I’ve enjoyed working with computers, since the Apple IIe.
My career goal is to make money doing website administration and design, also to finish this degree I began almost a decade ago.
I am interested in the graphics, multimedia, and website development aspects of IT. I just became interested in this after taking a class in the Fall 2010 semester. I am currently teaching myself Joomla, and webhosting through video tutorials and getting advice from friends.
This is a recording of my State of Alaska Unemployment Appeal hearing.
My former employer’s Executive Director lied under oath more than once during this hearing.
I had filed a Human Rights Commission Complaint against my former employer because I was being harassed almost every day by my co-worker, who had no supervisory authority over me.
One day my co-worker, the primary driver of the company van AND a YRITWC company credit card holder, insisted I go to the car wash and get a punch card for him to wash the company van. He knew I had no company credit card and that he would be driving over to the car wash anyways with the van.
Our supervisor is based in Anchorage, and although he directed the van to remain parked due to a bad windshield and improper insurance, he did not know the van was still being driven.
On the day he found out the van was being driven, he sent an email to us, saying the van was NOT to be driven at all until he said it could be.
In the hearing, he lied and said he told my co-worker to go get the punch card…even though he knew I was the one who got it.
I used the original 54 minute hearing recording, with two specific segments, the oath and one of the false statements made by my former supervisor at the YRITWC. I also made two recordings for narration. This project worked out exactly like I planned. I am satisfied with the final outcome.
